Roles and Responsibilities
Overview
Roles and Responsibilities let you take ownership of certain program management responsibilities within the Unit ecosystem - such as onboarding, payment reviews - that would otherwise be handled by your bank or by Unit on behalf of your bank.
With Unit’s Roles and Responsibilities feature, you get to decide (pending approval from your partner bank) who within your organization (your team, an automated workflow, utilizing a third-party vendor) handles key operational decisions and how.
In other words: Unit provides the platform, data, and tools - you make the decision.
How It Works
Some workflows (like reviewing an application, processing a payment, or approving a check) include steps that require discretion — an “approve” or “deny” decision.
By default, those decisions are handled by Unit. With Roles and Responsibilities, that authority can be delegated to you, allowing you to:
Review and make decisions directly in the Unit dashboard or programmatically using the API while retaining full audit visibility and transparency embedded in the platform.
Define who within your organization handles each process.
Define custom decision workflow and procedures used to make the decisions.
Leverage your familiarity with your customer base and internal or third party data enrichment to make decisions tailored for your use case.
Unit continues to provide the necessary infrastructure - workflows, data, and system controls — while you take control of the decision layer.
Getting Started
If you’re interested in managing decisions through Roles and Responsibilities:
- Contact Unit and let us know which workflows you’d like to take ownership of. We'll work with you and your bank customer to get the appointment approvals.
- Have your suggested review procedure approved by your bank - Unit can provide you with the necessary documentation, procedure suggestions, and support to help you transition smoothly!
- Set up your integration or staff training.
