Patch's API-first marketplace for carbon removal that connects buyers and developers of carbon credits helps you meet consumer demand for sustainability and drive further engagement, all within your application.

Customer Experience

  1. Your end customer can choose to redeem rewards points for carbon credits through Patch or be enrolled automatically.
  2. They can select from Patch's global network of carbon removal projects to purchase carbon credits based on carbon footprint size or dollar value.
  3. Rewards contributions and credit purchases can be tracked over time within your banking experience.
  4. Each month, you can fund your end customer's purchases directly, or through an interchange share from their debit card spend Unit, for example.
  5. Patch-generated purchase certificates hosted on public URLs can be delivered to end users after each credit purchase.

Partner Agreements 

  • You will create an account with Patch and will contract directly with Patch, including a Patch API Order Form and Terms of Service. 
  • See Patch's Billing documentation for more information on their monthly invoicing process, handled outside of Unit.

Compliance

  • End Customer Disclosures: Unit Compliance will help ensure your program is properly described and disclosed to your end customers. See the Unit Rewards Guide for more information. 
  • Bank Partner: Your bank partner needs to approve the use of Patch for your program. Contact your Customer Success Manager to ensure this approval is in place.

Tech Integration

  • Frontend

    • Display offset credit history and detailed information about the  carbon removal projects in the Patch network
  • Backend

    • Fetch available projects and project information using Patch's Projects API.

    • Use Patch's Orders API to create a new order. You can tag a specific customer ID in the order's metadata.

      • You can track the status of an order by looking at its state

Dashboard

  • Patch orders and billing will both occur outside of the Unit platform.
