Kard
Introduction
Reward your end customers for spending where they already shop with Kard.
Benefits
Drive engagement with deposit accounts on Unit using Kard's network of thousands of in-store and online merchants offering cash back rewards.
Kard manages rewards accrual for you by matching transactions on Unit to participating retailers and passing merchant-funded earnings back to your org.
Customer Experience
- End customers browse available offers in your UI. This can take many forms, from a searchable directory of offers and merchants to sending push notifications for nearby in-store offers.
- As your end customer uses their debit card, Kard matches their transactions to available offers automatically.
- When a transaction is matched real-time, your end customer can see their earned reward alongside the corresponding transaction.
- Your end customer will receive their earned rewards monthly, after they’re disbursed by Kard's monthly merchant settlement process.
Contact Unit to discuss potential options for faster rewards disbursement.
- If your end customer initiates a return, earned rewards will not be automatically reversed, but will be monitored through Kard for potential gaming.
- In the event an end customer does not receive rewards when they should have, your end customer or your support team can initiate a review of that transaction by the Kard team.
Implementation
Partner Agreements
- You’ll sign an agreement with Kard directly, including marketing obligations for your End Customer User Interface, described below.
Compliance
- End Customer Disclosures: Unit Compliance will help ensure your program is properly described and disclosed to your end customers. See the Unit Rewards Program Guide for more information.
Tech Integration
End Customer User Interface:
- Your UI must make offers accessible and browseable for your end customers.
- End customers should receive notification (via push, SMS, email or other channel) of earned rewards within 24 hours of a qualifying purchase.
Backend: Review Kard's API documentation.
Pass authorizations to Kard to display accrued rewards in real-time via API. Pass cleared transactions to Kard for final earn via batch API or flat file.
Kard doesn't require PII or PCI data, so this should be removed from your transaction data before sharing.
- If Kard matches a transaction to an available offer, you can fetch earned rewards details from their outbound webhook
- Rewards dispute reviews can be initiated using Kard’s Audit API.
Dashboard and Disbursement
Unit will help set up a batch account for your org to receive rewards disbursements from Kard. This will be the account number shared with Kard.
- When Kard settles rewards monthly, you'll see a Received ACH credit to your org on the Unit Dashboard.
- Kard will share an End of Month report that indicates what reward amount should be disbursed to each respective end customer.
- These inbound funds can then be batch released to end customer accounts.
